The ‘Real’ Problem

January 27, 2011 in Optimism

Have you ever found yourself telling someone that you are not a pessimist, only a realist?

Now i know that i might be classified as the “glass is always half full” kind of guy – and i don’t know if that is necessarily a bad thing… But i have found lately that i get more and more annoyed when i hear someone classifying themselves as a “realist” not a pessimist.

The way i look at life and business compels me to look at reality and not accept it. If we all accept reality and remain pleased with the way things are, we can erase all innovation of any kind ever.

I am not saying that you need to look at a glass with a few drops in and loudly convince everybody that the glass is actually half full. What i am saying though is that we should look at the half-empty glass and wonder why it is not overflowing. And then do something about it!

We too often look at the way things are and don’t do anything to make things the way it should be in the name of  ‘realism’. For an optimistic entrepreneur type guy, this is very sad!

What ideas or changes could have been implemented if we were not so scared to believe that thing can be better?

Well said. We have the power to change things for ourselves, we just need to believe that we can get the glass half full and the overflowing will come with the hard work.

Yes, it’s kinda not going with the huge negative flow of the large majority, but looking for ways to improve, to love bigger and to find joy..

Exactly! Negativity is easy, because it requires no action. Seeing the possibility of positive change will require thought and action – not that easy…
